The AI Assistant adds a chat to the Magento admin for the admin users you choose. You ask about the store in plain language, for example which products sold best last month or whether there were errors in the logs today, and it looks up the answer in your database, configuration, logs and code. Answers can include charts and CSV reports, and the issues it finds can be recorded as tickets. It also keeps track of what each conversation costs.
It runs on Anthropic's Claude models by default or on OpenAI's GPT models, so you can use Claude or ChatGPT style models in the Magento admin without copying store data into a separate chat window. Database access is always read-only, and personal data is masked before anything is sent to the provider. The few things it can create, such as an inactive CMS page draft, an inactive cart price rule draft or a ticket, need a Yes from the user first, and it never changes or deletes existing data. Usage is billed by the AI provider to your own account, and you can set a monthly limit. Our post Ask your Magento store shows how it is used.

An AI model can only work with the data your store holds. If cost prices, stock levels or attributes are missing, the answers and suggestions will be weaker, so check a few results by hand when you start. The merchandising and forecast modules also work without an AI model: their scores and forecasts are calculated from your data, and AI only adds explanations and summaries.
